Install on Shopify

Add the Voicello voice widget to a Shopify store by pasting one script tag into your theme layout file.

On Shopify the install code goes into your theme's layout file, which wraps every storefront page. Do the shared setup in Install the widget first: you need a published agent and the install code copied from the Deploy tab.

Add your store's domains

Under Verified domains on the Deploy tab, add the domain your customers see, for example example.com. If customers can also reach the store at its myshopify.com address, add that too (for example your-store.myshopify.com). Each one needs its own entry.

Paste the code into your theme

  1. Open the theme code editor

    In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Themes. On the theme you want to change, open the menu with the three dots and choose Edit code.

    Work on a duplicate of your live theme if you want to try this before customers see it.

  2. Open the layout file

    In the Layout folder, open theme.liquid.

  3. Paste the install code before the closing body tag

    Scroll to the end of the file and paste the install code on its own line, just above </body>:

    Liquid
        <!-- Paste the install code from the Deploy tab on this line -->
      </body>
    </html>

    Save the file.

Check that it shows

Open your storefront in a new tab. The launcher button appears in the corner on every page that uses the theme layout.

Checkout pages do not use theme.liquid, so the widget does not show there.

If the launcher is missing on your storefront, work through If the widget does not show. On Shopify, check first that the domain in your browser's address bar is one of the domains you added.

After a theme change

The code lives in the theme. When you publish a different theme, paste the install code into that theme's theme.liquid as well.
